After losing the Test series for the first time to Bangladesh, Pakistan slipped to eighth place in the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men’s Test Team Rankings 2024 and its rating reached its lowest level for the first time since 1965.
Pakistan lost the first Test match by 10 wickets and the second match by six wickets. Both these matches were played in Rawalpindi. The ICC said on its website, ‘After suffering a crushing series defeat at the hands of Bangladesh at its home ground, Pakistan has slipped two places to eighth in the ICC Men’s Test Team Rankings.’

Pakistan’s team was in sixth place before the series, but due to continuous defeats, it has slipped below West Indies to eighth place. It has 76 rating points. Pakistan has reached such low rating points for the first time since 1965.
Bangladesh remains in ninth place behind Pakistan despite gaining 13 rating points. However, after winning the series 2-0, Bangladesh has gained in the World Test Championship table and has reached the fourth position after India, Australia and New Zealand.

Bangladesh will now tour India for a two-Test match series, the first Test match of which will be played in Chennai from September 19. At the same time, the second Test will be played in Kanpur from September 27. After this, a three-match T20 series will be played between the two countries from October 6.
