Great cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has joined the ownership group of America’s National Cricket League (NCL) and this move is expected to promote the sport in America in the coming years. Tendulkar will present the trophy to the winning team in the inaugural tournament of NCL. NCL has recently announced a cricket tournament in America, in which many legends of the game are also playing the role of mentors of the participating teams.
After the announcement of Tendulkar’s joining NCL, this great batsman said –
Cricket has been the biggest journey of my life and I am happy to join the National Cricket League at such an exciting time for the sport in America. The aim of NCL is to create a platform for world-class cricket and also inspire a new generation of fans to join. I am looking forward to being a part of this new initiative and witnessing first-hand the growth of cricket in America.
Gavaskar and Richards will coach the teams
This season, NCL will feature cricket legends like Sunil Gavaskar, Zaheer Abbas, Wasim Akram, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sir Vivian Richards, Venkatesh Prasad, Sanath Jayasuriya, Moin Khan and Blair Franklin. These heroes of cricket will guide and coach the next generation of players.
It will also feature top players from around the world like Shahid Afridi, Suresh Raina, Dinesh Karthik, Shakib Al Hasan, Robin Uthappa, Tabrez Shamsi, Chris Lynn, Angelo Mathews, Colin Munro, Sam Billings, Mohammad Nabi and Johnson Charles.
